Temazcalli

The old ways teaches us that no one could be really healthy if the laws of the universe and the elements are not respected. The Temazcalli is a ceremony of recognition of the universal laws, is the ideal formula for eliminating the deepest causes of our sicknesses. In this purification ritual, when the body sweats it cleans itself, starts to liberate the tensions, the worries; gradually the action of the elements (earth, water, air and fire) represented by the different ceremonies, the smell of the medicine herbs and the traditional chanting, leads us to a superior level of purification.

Previous to entering the Temazcalli we are prepared by a ceremony that connect us to the four elements: You are covered with mud and clay (Earth), then left to be dried by the sun (Fire), meanwhile you meditate by breathing fresh and free air (Air) dried and with the meditation that integrate you to this elementals, you wash the clay off with fresh water (Water) and immediately enter the Temazcalli for the purification ceremony.

When exiting the Temazcalli, you are wrapped in a soft cloth and a warm purificative beverage with honey.

The Temazcalli is considered the womb of our Mother Earth and by entering you connect with her the same way as a child with its mother. It is built with 12 wood sticks that represent the twelve universes and 4 surrounding representing the four roads or races, with clay and brick in round shape, which is called Inipi.
